The NRA Gun Safety Seminar is a 1.5-hour class that provides an entry-level overview of a variety of firearms from pistols to shotguns and rifles.

The discussion covers the basics of firearms including:

• Gun safety
• Gun storage
• Types of firearms and their parts
• The semi-automatic and revolver handgun
• Handgun magazines
• Single/double/pump/bolt actions,
• Ammunition
• Sights (iron and optics)
• Firearm accessories.

You will learn the basic aiming (sight alignment & picture), hand and eye dominance principles, and the two-handed grip using the Isosceles and Weaver standing shooting positions.

Steps

We cover basic handgun cleaning fundamentals and review what to expect on the gun range, suggestions for attire, the Illinois FOID card and what you’ll need for your first firearm purchase.

Finally, we will discuss the Illinois Concealed Carry training requirements and NRA continuing education courses like:

• Basics of Pistol Shooting,
• FIRST Steps Shotgun Orientation,
• Basic Shotgun Shooting,
• FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation
• Basic Rifle Shooting
• Basic Personal Protection In The Home
• Basics of Person Protection Outside The Home
• Defensive Pistol course,

and how to move forward and enroll.
The NRA Gun Safety Seminar is ALL classroom and a non-live fire range course.

This course is primarily designed for the beginner, and/or someone who is looking to purchase their first gun and/or receive firearm safety training and proper skill development for a weapon you currently own, while in a safe, supportive environment & from an NRA certified, Illinois State Police Concealed Carry Firearm approved instructor.

This course will give you great success and training with skills of beginner and Self Defense , an entry-level overview of a variety of firearms from pistols to shotguns & also rifles and what you’ll need for your first firearm purchase.
